A Second Chance for Inmates and the Environment

A new partnership between the DOC, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay is giving inmates the chance to help the environment—and help themselves in the process. In this episode of Lockup Lowdown, meet DCNR’s Shea Zwerver who has led the Riparian Forest Buffer Vocational Training Program and seen inmates transform over the 14-week program as they learn in-demand job skills that benefit the Chesapeake Bay and Pennsylvania environment. Shea explains the program, how it worked and what the future holds for this project and the inmates who took part in it.
